About Us

Welcome to Young Minds Montessori School!

Founded in 2008, Young Minds Montessori has grown from a small preschool into a beloved educational center, now located in our cozy, purpose-built facility in the heart of Leander. Over the years, we have continually fine-tuned our curriculum to meet the individual needs of every child, ensuring that we foster a lifelong love of learning in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Our Montessori program blends innovative teaching methods with a focus on personalized learning. With a commitment to providing the highest quality education, we have expanded our offerings and built a strong community where children are encouraged to explore, grow, and thrive. In addition to our academic Montessori curriculum, we incorporate play-based methods and extracurricular offerings to provide the most well-rounded comprehensive program.

At Young Minds Montessori, we believe that the environment plays a crucial role in a child’s development. Inspired by Nordic design principles, we keep our facilities clean, simple, and uncluttered, minimizing distractions and avoiding overstimulation. Our classrooms are thoughtfully designed with natural elements like plants, calming music, and materials made from wood and other natural materials. This serene and inviting atmosphere allows children to focus, engage in purposeful play, and explore their surroundings in a calm, inspiring environment that fosters creativity and emotional well-being.

At Young Minds Montessori, we believe in creating a well-rounded educational experience that supports the intellectual, emotional, and physical development of each child. We provide a welcoming and warm environment where every child feels valued and inspired to reach their full potential.

How We Teach

The Montessori path of education began with Dr. Maria Montessori in the late 1800s in Italy. Through scientific observation, she discovered that children under the age of six years old, learn best at their own pace and when given a choice in their activities. With the child’s unique development in mind, Dr. Montessori prepared an open learning environment in response to the child’s natural interests and developmental pace. This breakthrough sparked a revolution that led to the Montessori Method being taught all over the world.

We at Young Minds Montessori School believe that children have a natural desire to learn and will do so joyfully when given the opportunity. While in our care, your child will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities that will promote all aspects of development.

A family childcare provides children the comfort and experience of belonging to an extended family. We provide a home-like setting and our approach to childcare is child-centered and child-directed. Children are offered choices whenever possible. Your child will bring home work sheets and art projects that reflect the theme-based learning from our specialized curriculum.

We believe in the power of education not only for our students, but also our teachers. The majority of our Lead Teachers are certified Montessori teachers and many have extensive training and/or college education in early childhood development. We conduct continuous training opportunities together as team and our teachers attend training programs in the Montessori philosophy and general child development individually throughout the year.

We believe in continued education so strongly that we have sponsored our teachers to get their Montessori Teaching Certifications while employed with us and we have also sponsored for multiple of our team to attend the annual AMS (American Montessori Society) Conference where they receive several days worth of training from esteemed Montessori professionals from around the world.

In additional to our comprehensive Montessori curriculum, our in-house provided extra-curricular activities include music, Spanish, art and yoga. We also collaborate with several local vendors who conduct weekly classes at our school. For the 2024-2025 academic year these options include Soccer Shots, Kidokinetics, Piano lessons, KinderDance, Techie Kids and Chess class.
