About Us
Young Minds Montessori Preschool was established in 2008 as an in-home Montessori preschool. Over the years, the school grew and moved into the commercial building we are in today and the curriculum has been fine tuned to fit most child’s needs and ensure continuous, enthusiastic learning. In July of 2018, Eliisa and Luis Mesa joined the team as new owners, and have since then been finding ways to further enrich the program, provide teacher training and a quality education for the young learners in our community.
How We Teach
The Montessori path of education began with Dr. Maria Montessori in the late 1800s in Italy. Through scientific observation, she discovered that children under the age of six years old, learn best at their own pace and when given a choice in their activities. With the child’s unique development in mind, Dr. Montessori prepared an open learning environment in response to the child’s natural interests and developmental pace. This breakthrough sparked a revolution that led to the Montessori Method being taught all over the world.
We at Young Minds Montessori Preschool believe that children have a natural desire to learn and will do so joyfully when given the opportunity. While in our care, your child will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities that will promote all aspects of development. A family childcare provides children the comfort and experience of belonging to an extended family. We provide a home-like setting and our approach to childcare is child-centered and child-directed. Children are offered choices whenever possible. Your child will bring home work sheets and art projects that reflect the theme-based learning from our specialized curriculum.
We believe in the power of education not only for our students, but also our teachers. The majority of our Lead Teachers are certified Montessori teachers and some have a Bachelor's or even Master's degree in early childhood education or child development. We conduct continuous training opportunities together as team and our teachers attend training programs in the Montessori philosophy and general child development individually throughout the year.
We accept children 18 months to 6 years old. Our extra-curricular activities include music, Spanish, art and yoga. Some of our staff is trained in the local Mi Casa es Tu Casa Spanish/Music curriculum and we utilize the curriculum and music as we work with the children in our care. We also collaborate with several local vendors who conduct weekly classes at our school. For the 2023-2024 academic year these options include Soccer Shots, Kidokinetics, Piano lessons, KinderDance, Techie Kids.
