Arrivals. Students will be arriving to school and playing with quiet, focused toys, such as blocks and puzzles.
09:00am - 9:30am
Circle Time. Teachers lead the class in Circle Time, a morning ritual where students get out some energy through school songs and dance, followed with a class discussion of the calendar, weather and upcoming events.
9:30am - 11:30am
Montessori Work. The most important part of the day! Students get to explore their unique interests by choosing their own lessons and working on them for as long as they’d like. During this time, teachers also individually work with students to develop their skills in reading, writing and math. . When weather permits, students are taken outside to play on the playgrounds for 30 minutes.
11:30 - 12:00pm
Lunch. Hands are washed and students are served their packed lunch.
12:00pm - 2:00pm
Nap Time, Quiet Activity. After lunch, older students engage in a calm activity before having quiet time. Younger students are given a nap shortly after lunch. If students wake up before nap time is over, they are given a quiet activity.
02:00pm – 04:00pm
Free Play, Story Time and Teacher Directed Activities. Nap mats are put away and students are given a healthy snack during this time. Teachers read stories, play games with the children and direct fun activities. Students are also given time to free play with toys and dramatic play. When weather permits, students are taken outside to play on the playgrounds.
04:00pm – 5:00pm
Students play with special end of the day toys during this time and begin moving to closing classrooms as our Lead Teachers leave for the day. In preparation for pick-up students wash hands, use the potty, and gather up their belongings.
